President and Director of Planning Services
In addition to his land planning skills, John, a licensed architect since 1977, has over four decades of experience in architectural design with administrative and direction responsibilities. Since graduating from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1973, John has become recognized as an expert regarding building and zoning code ramifications over a wide variety of local and national codes and ordinances. His affiliations have included: Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove, BG Area Chamber of Commerce, Buffalo Grove Friends of the Parks Foundation, Mount Prospect Zoning Board of Appeals (1982-87), and Buffalo Grove Ethics Commission. He is a registered architect with the American Institute of Architects, is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, and is registered as an Interior Designer by the State of Illinois.
David Wytmar, AIA, LEED AP
Partner and Director of Architectural Design
David began his working career with Groundwork as one of its first architectural staff professionals. Today, he is a Partner for the company. He received his Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon, and has responsibility for architectural design, production and coordination from feasibility study through contract administration. David's affiliations and participation include the America Institute of Architecture, the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago, the Association of Licensed Architects, and the Self-Storage Association. He is a registered architect, and also an accredited LEED AP.
Mark Chertow, P.E.
Director of Civil Engineering
Mark brings over thirty years of experience in civil engineering design with project management responsibilities to Groundwork. He is responsible for civil engineering for residential, commercial, industrial and municipal sites, and for coordination of final engineering plans. Mark's expertise extends into interdisciplinary project coordination of civil engineering with land planning. He is registered in both Illinois and Indiana, and is certified as a Designated Erosion Control Inspector (DECI) for Lake County, Illinois. Mark has served in leadership roles with the American Society of Civil Engineers, including as a Board member. He is also a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
